BELLSHIL DOG CLUB CONSTITUTION
1) The club shall be known as, “Bellshill Dog Training Club”.
2) A membership fee will be taken and reviewed annually. Memberships will be single or joint (two members with one dog) a couple or two people with two dogs shall have separate memberships. Membership shall lapse if any member fails to attend for two months or more and membership shall have to be renewed on return to club. Subscriptions are payable to the Secretary upon joining the club.
3) Members shall sign a membership application/disclaimer form when joining the club.
4) All dogs must be shown to have had their vaccinations before being allowed to join the club.
5) The Committee reserve the right to refuse admission to anyone if his or her dog appears unwell.
6) The club must make a list of members and their addresses available for inspection if so requested by members of the club.
7) The Committee shall consist of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and a Committee of four members, all of whom shall retire annually but shall be eligible for re- election.
8) The Committee shall appoint up to a total of three trainers, who shall be members of the Committee. If the trainers elected are already Committee members it does not leave a vacancy for any other member.
9) The President, Vice President, Secretary, and the Treasurer shall be ex- officio members of the Committee with power to partake in the proceedings and shall form a quorum.
10) Expulsion of members-if the conduct of any member shall, in the opinion of the Committee of the club be injurious or likely to be injurious to the character or interest of the club, the Committee of the club may, at a meeting the notice convening which included as an object the consideration of the conduct of a member, determine that a special general meeting of the club shall be called for the purpose of passing a resolution to expel him/ her. Notice of a special general meeting shall be sent to the accused member, giving particulars of the complaint and advising the place, date and hour of the meeting that he/ she may attend and offer an explanation. If at the meeting, a resolution to expel is passed by a two-thirds majority of the members present and voting his/her name shall forthwith be erased from the list of members, and he/ she shall thereupon cease for all purposes to be a member of the club.
11) Resigning member or members leaving the club for any cause whatsoever shall not be entitled to receive a return of their subscription or part thereof.
12) Only members who hold a current annual subscription at the time of the Annual General Meeting will be eligible for office, or as members of the Committee or eligible to vote or participate in the club business.
13) The Committee shall have the power to fill any vacancy in the Committee or office bearers, by co-opting if deemed necessary any member of the club. Such co-option to be valid till the end of the current year of office only.
14) The Committee shall have the power to raise funds by organising such lawful activities as it may see fit, even if not expressly included in the stated objects of the club.
15) Any Officer of the Committee acting with the Committee’s authority shall be indemnified by the club out of the clubs funds against all expenses, legal proceedings, or other costs incurred by or adjudged against the Officer as a result of acting on behalf of the club and with such authority.
16) Any Committee member who does not attend for three consecutive Committee meetings must advise the reason of the absence to the Secretary and if the explanation is unsatisfactory, the Committee may act as they think fit. Nevertheless if such three consecutive meetings are held within a period of less than 21 days no explanation shall be compulsory by the absentee member.
17) All monies paid to the club shall be banked by the Treasurer, who shall keep proper records of all financial transactions. Such records shall be available to any member of the club on demand.
18) The club shall have a banking account. All cheques drawn against this account shall have two out of three signatures, that of Treasurer, Secretary and President.
19) The financial year shall end on the 31st day of December each year.
20) The Annual General Meeting shall be held before the 31st of March each year for the election of office bearers and Committee members, and to receive an audited statement of accounts of the club, that may be passed. Thereafter the meeting shall be open. The President shall act as Chairperson and shall decide on points of order, agenda and procedures. The Chairperson shall have a casting vote. The club shall continue and shall not be dissolved as long as 12 members agree to continue.
21) If a dog has been in kennels it may not attend the club for three weeks after leaving the kennels. Members will not bring any dog which has contracted or knowingly been exposed to any infectious or communicable disease during the previous twenty one days prior to attendance at the club, or which is suffering from any visible condition which adversely affects its health and/or welfare.
